As we approach the days when we celebrate the passion, death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, we meditate on his sufferings and his love for us. The circumstances for the celebration of Easter are unique this year and we all are encouraged to meditate more deeply than ever on the mysteries of life and death. This celebration of Easter is something none of us is going to forget ever. I’m quite optimistic that after the pandemic is over we all are going to appreciate better the sacraments, our liturgies, our Church and our brothers and sisters in the faith. My hope is that after this we become better human beings and better Christians.
Even though we cannot congregate these days, we can come together spiritually as a community under the leadership of our diocesan shepherd. Bishop Jaime Soto invites the faithful of the Diocese of Sacramento to join him via livestream during Holy Week at www.scd.org/live or on Facebook. Here is the schedule:
Palm Sunday: Sunday, April 5, 2020 at 10 am
Holy Thursday: Thursday April 9, 2020 at 7 pm
Good Friday: Friday, April 10, 2020 at 12 noon
Easter Vigil: Saturday, April 11, 2020 at 8:30 pm
I’m grateful that in spite of the current circumstances we have been getting some contributions. Thanks to all of you who have shared your resources. I know that under the circumstances many of you are struggling financially and I totally understand if you cannot contribute these days.
Also, please be aware that there are scammers at work these days. They are using my name and the name of other priests to ask people for money. Do NOT do what they say. I wouldn’t ask any parishioner for money or for a personal loan, or to do any bank transaction for me, or to wire money for me. Do not let scammers rip you off.
You all are in my prayers. Remember that you can call me if you need help. My cell phone number is: 707-704-7519
Let’s celebrate the Paschal Triduum with devotion and humility. May God almighty bless all of you. May you all have a blessed Easter.
